JGEEBILS EXAM Pattern
Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS)
The Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS) consists of two main sections: Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Subjective Assessment (SA) questions. The total time allotted for both sections is 3 hours.
JGEEBILS Score: MCQ Only
The MCQ section is solely used to calculate your JGEEBILS score.
- The MCQ section contains 60 questions divided into four sections:
- General (A and B)
- Physics (A and B)
- Chemistry (A and B)
- Biology (A and B)
- Each of these four sections is further split into two subsections:
- Subsection A contains 10 MCQs. Correct answers in this subsection are worth 1 mark each.
- Subsection B contains 5 MCQs. Correct answers in this subsection are worth 2 marks each.
- Negative marking will be applied for incorrect answers. Questions left unanswered will not be graded.
- All MCQs have only one correct answer. Candidates should select their answer by clicking the radio button next to the relevant option.
- The MCQs are designed to assess your ability to synthesize topics learned during high school or undergraduate science courses.
Subjective Assessment (Long Answer Questions)
The Subjective Assessment questions are not scored for your JGEEBILS score but are used for further screening and shortlisting of candidates. Responses should have a maximum word limit of 200 words per question.
- This section is divided into three subsections:
- The first subsection contains three questions, of which candidates are required to answer only one.
- The second and third subsections each include one mandatory question that must be answered.
- In total, candidates are required to answer only 3 out of the 5 subjective questions.
- This section comprehensively evaluates a candidate’s knowledge and skills, assessing:
- Critical and logical thinking
- Creativity
- Problem-solving abilities
- General awareness
- Suitability for the PhD program
- To access the Subjective Assessment section (“Biology SA”) for the first time, you must click ‘Submit’ at the end of the “Biology MCQ” section (followed by prompts for submission for marking). You can switch between sections at any time to edit or update your responses.
- When typing in the text boxes in the SA section, the following function keys cannot be used: Ctrl+C, Ctrl+X, Ctrl+V. Using these keys will result in the erasure of the text already typed in that particular text box.
- JGEEBILS Syllabus: Comprehensive coverage of Molecular Biology, Genetics, Ecology, Evolution, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, and physics, chemistry and Mathematics (extreme basics will be asked in MCQs According to TIFR BUT THIS ACTUALLY DOESNOT HAPPEN)
